Subaru Service and Repair in Portland, OR
Heckmann & Thiemann Motors was established in Portland, Oregon in 1968—the same year that Subaru of America was born. Subaru engines share boxer design elements common to both Porsche and Volkswagen.
Subaru gained a toehold in the American market with the introduction of the BRAT in 1978—a small truck like passenger vehicle that climbed like a goat, worked like a horse, and ate like bird. In 1995, Subaru invented the sport-utility wagon with the introduction of the Outback. This automobile category later became known as a “crossover.” In 2001, Subaru Motorsport USA was established. This rally team went on to win the US national championship fifteen times over the seventeen years that followed. These wins cemented Subaru as a manufacturer of practical, performance oriented, and off-road capable family adventure vehicles.
